«Because death in the sea is more frequent than ever before, and the ships present in the Mediterranean are simply not enough.»

We have joined forces to send out a clear signal and tackle the culture of indifference.
By setting sail another ship to support women, men and children who have been displaced by tragic scenarios and are keen to chase their dreams, as is their right.

Our vessel ResQ People sailed for the first search and rescue mission on August 7, 2021. Together, we saved 225 lives.

THE PROJECT OF A LIFETIME

There are too few
ships at sea.

And the number of people dying at sea reminds us of this, every day.
An extra ship means boosting the efficacy and coverage of aid at sea, even at the very busiest of times.

Set up by people,
for people

Set up by people from different backgrounds, united by the desire to save lives, willing to leverage their expertise to carry through a brave, high-impact initiative.

As part of a network,
already at work

With this project, we add another Italian ship to the humanitarian fleet. And by acting in synergy with other NGOs, we will be all the more effective.

Reporting,
with integrity

We will tell the truth with a capital “T”, reporting as the events unfold, to raise awareness among our people by providing free and independent information.

A new narrative,
of life

We will defy the narrative of fear and xenophobia by talking
about the dead so that we can soon return to celebrate life.

State-backed,
legal

It is not a crime to save lives. And doing so will never be a crime. Everything ResQ does will be in accordance with age-old sea rescue rules and international law.

IL PROGETTO DI UNA VITA.

In un mondo di indifferenti, #tornareumani conta.

Perché se fosse tuo figlio, in mare, lo salveremmo.

Ci sono troppe poche
navi in mare

In network,

What the friends of ResQ say

“It is immoral that we are still debating whether or not it is right to save people at sea. It is our duty. And since the governments are falling short of their responsibilities, civil society is required. That’s why I applaud the arrival of ResQ.”

Filippo Grandi | United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

“Would I be glad if someone came to my rescue if I were drowning in the sea?

Yes, I’d be glad.”

Gherardo Colombo | Honorary chairman
