The Logistician is responsible for the logistics and IT aspects on board of the vessel.
Please note that this is a volunteer/unpaid position.
Responsibilities
The Logistic works closely with the Head of Mission to support the Survivor Care coordination: assisting the embarkation of guests, guaranteeing their safety, organizing food, water and NFIs preparation and distribution to the survivors, and organizing the roster for shifts 24/7. The Logistician assists every department on whatever needed.
Before rescue operations the Logistician ensures the vessel is well supplied and equipped for the mission; is responsible for the stocks and inventories. The Logistician organizes the rosters assigning daily maintenance duties to volunteers.
After disembarkation of survivors, the Logistician makes sure the inventory is updated and places the order for restocking for following mission.
Requirements
Experience with general logistics management (preferably on board vessels).
Experience with IT and telecommunications.
Fluent English. Italian is a strong plus.
Skills
Strong motivation and commitment towards ResQ’s core objectives.
Ability to work and live in a diverse team of 21 persons some of whom may have limited nautical experience.
High flexibility and spirit of adaptability. Willingness to take part in the daily life of the ship.
Previous experience with humanitarian aid work and/ or SAR vessels is a strong plus.
Desirable:
Experience with vessel maintenance work.
